Aeldari

Army rule · Battle Focus

You get a few tokens each battle round. You spend them to make your Aeldari move at the right moment — and the ones you keep are worth nothing.

The Aeldari army rule is called Battle Focus. It is not a standing bonus, and it is not a once-per-battle thing: it is a small stock of tokens, refilled every battle round, that you spend.

  1. At the start of every battle round, you receive Battle Focus tokens. How many? It depends on the size of the game you have set up — ask whoever is organising it.
  2. During the round, you spend one token to let one of your units perform an Agile Manoeuvre.
  3. At the end of the battle round, any tokens you have not spent are lost. You get new ones next round.

A unit can only perform one Agile Manoeuvre per phase. For it to do one, two things have to be true:

  1. It has the Battle Focus ability — it is written on its datasheet.
  2. It has not already performed an Agile Manoeuvre in this phase.

Which Agile Manoeuvres exist, and what each one does, are not explained on this site yet: they are in the codex, each with the exact moment it triggers. Ask someone at the club to show you the first time.

A worked example

  1. I have two tokens. My Dire Avengers and my Fire Dragons both want to manoeuvre in the same phase.

Both can. The limit is per unit, not per phase: each does its own, and each costs you a token. That is both your tokens gone.

  2. And my Dire Avengers, twice in the same phase?

No. A unit that has already performed an Agile Manoeuvre this phase is no longer eligible, even if you still have tokens. It becomes eligible again next phase.

  3. I have spent nothing all round. Do I keep my tokens for the next one?

No, they are lost at the end of the battle round, and you get new ones. Holding a token gains you nothing: an unspent token is a wasted token.

The tokens come from your army, but it is the datasheet that says whether a unit is allowed to spend them. Not all your datasheets have Battle Focus — being Aeldari is not enough. Go and check the datasheet before you count on it.
